Web Text

We're sorry but new users are no longer able to register for Telecom's Web Text service. If you would like a web to text message service, we recommend Etxt.

Existing customers can login to Web Text here.

How does it work?

Web Text is an Internet based text messaging service. Using an Internet connected PC and the Web Text service, you can send text messages either to individuals or groups of text capable Telecom mobile phones at once. You can send up to 15 messages an hour, but no more than 30 a day.

To make sending messages easy, you can create your own distribution list and address book using Web Text on your PC. This allows you to send Web Texts straight from your mobile.

For more things to know about this service please read Web Text FAQs.

What does it cost?

When you send a Web Text message you pay 12c per message sent to Telecom phones, and 20c per message sent to other network phones (e.g. Vodafone, Telstraclear etc). If you're sending a message to a group, you pay the per recipient cost, plus a one-off 20c for the group call. Recipients pay nothing to receive your message.

There is no charge to post a notice on a notice-board, however people reading these notices will incur WAP charges of 7c per page once they click on 'Web Text Notices' on their Telecom mobile WAP menu.

You will be charged for Web Texts messages you send, even if the Web Text cannot be read by the recipient.

If you have a call plan that includes a set number of free text messages per month, Web Texts will not be included as part of this. Web Text messages are charged separately.

What do I need?
  • Access to the Web Text Service from an Internet connected PC

  • A Telecom mobile to be charged for any Web Text messages sent

  • Your recipients need a text capable Telecom phone
